ADHD (Attention Defficit Hyper Disorder) - Link: HealthCastle.com

. .
Is your child hyper. . . Has she/he been diagnosed with ADHD?
.
My son was many years ago. He was like having 2 boys and just bounced off the walls. Just going to ECS, at the public school and being easily distracted, not sitting still, being impulsive & disruptive; just to name a few caused a health nurse to be involved. She suggested for him to be tested for ADHD. Before I knew it, he was on regular Ritalin. One of the side-affects of the Ritalin was that he was almost like a robot (he would talk very monotone). Also, he would lose his appetite and his hands would shake. I remember looking at a picture taken in school and his pupils were not dilated from the flash of the camera. I think I still have that picture. Coming off of it, he would totally act up. I also noticed if he ate certain foods, he would become more hyper; therefore, I tried to watch what he ate. He ended up being put on time-released which would last 12 hours. There was major problems waking him up in the morning and getting him ready for school, so I started giving him his medicine a half hour before he woke up. This made life allot easier for us. . Although the Ritalin helped him concentrate in school, I still did not like giving him it. In grade 6 or so, I tried a natural way to deal with it, but to no avail. He struggled big time; also, 'cuz he didn't fit in, he dealt with peers treating him unkindly . At this time he was about 12 and his hormones were starting to act up. He ended up living with his Grandfather to deal with these issues and others . My dad got him off of it but he struggled in school and with his peers. He never did finish High School. Even to this day, he has problems with keeping a job down and does not fit into our society. . I don't support chemicals to help with this problem and do feel that food CAN make a difference. Much of the food we eat has chemicals, additives and who knows what else in which our bodies can't tolerate. This results in us lacking concentration and other major issues and effects our functioning abilities. Here is a site I came across on an older study to investigate Ritalin (check out some other sites):

. If your son/daughter or even an adult person is struggling with staying focused at school or at a job. The above link in the title and these sites has much information on ADHD and diet info:

. These might give you ideas on how to deal with this issue. . Hoping this post will help you in your struggles with your loved ones. . cg
