Sunday, January 24th, Truth Church heard a master piece from Rev' Mark King who gave a parable re the church being like a great symphony. In so many words, he said that it must be in unity with the conductors (pastor) directions for the music (the Bible) of the composer who is God to affect those that it reaches in a great way.
He said that everyone's life needs to be like a song/musical piece to God. He/she needs to play a love or praise song to Jesus. Each day should be a new phrase, sentence or movement to bring praise & glory to him. Through prayerfully reading the word and following it, we can all make beautiful music as individuals with our talents, personalities, gifts, etc. but, it will never be as powerful as when we come together and play as an orchestra in harmony under the direction of the conductor being the man of God who conducts the great composer's (God) composition (the bible).
1 Corinthians 12:4-11
4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5) There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6) And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8) for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9) to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10) to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.Rev' King explained that each individual in the local assembly must be playing their various instruments from the same page in which the conductor is directing the great master's symphony so that a beautiful song will come forth. We all have something unique to offer & to play to make a beautiful tune for our local church and all have a part in its' symphony. The orchestra is not complete if everyone is not there or if everyone is not playing together. Each musician learns to play in harmony with each other through practicing together under the conductors directions. This conductor must be VERY sensitive to all the instruments as they are being played to make sure that they are all in harmony. In the spiritual sense, this is done when we gather together as an assembly of people willing to please to God in every sense. This assembly being the local church becomes more tuned to God's voice through the anointing of the spirit over us and the ordained man of God.
The master Jesus Christ, author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews), composed the greatest composition of all time. He has called us to perform his masterpiece called the gospel. Each musician in the symphony does not play by memory but, always by the music in front of him to direct him/her on when to play the next note or string of notes. (Jesus did not have us play with no directions or by emotions. He gave us his word to direct us on how to play music pleasing to God.)
1 Timothy 3:14-17 14) But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15) and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16) All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17) that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Bro' King continues to say that the orchestra looks continually from the music (score) to the "One" conductor and could see that the conductor is conducting according to score. (We need to always prayerfully study the bible to know that the preacher is going by all the word.) Symphonies were always directed by one conductor, the reason being to stop utter chaos from happening. For the music to sound good; the same thing must be played, with the same emotion, the same intepretation by the same conductor. It helps greatly if the conductor has a relationship with the composer (he knows how the composer thinks).
The eunuch was shown how to read the score (the word) by the conductor (Phillip):
Acts 8:30,31, 35
30) So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31) And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?”. . . 35) Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. 36) Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?” 37) Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” 38) So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. Some conductors do not have the heart of the composer and change how the composer meant the music to be played. There is false prophets today who deceive people who don't know the score. Study the word so you know the score and follow the conductor's direction to play the symphony the way the composer wants it played. Hebrews 13:7 7) Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. How the conductor directs the symphony makes all the difference how the music is presented and sounds. A good conductor lives out the piece and knows the music off by heart. He conducts it as if it is part of him. He puts his very being into the music. He shows great passion as he directs the orchestra. (A true man of God; a true pastor, will show if what he is teaching and preaching is real because he lives it with everything in him and examplifies it to all who sees him. For the pastor to produce what God requires in the people, the people have to desire to work together in harmony. The people has to be in tune with one another by one main note coming from God.)
THE FIRST CORD OF THE SYMPONY:
Acts 2:1, 46 & 47 1) When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord (one passion) in one place. Was not left up to the conductor to make the music. They were all compassionate about their symphony to God. This was and is the greatest song ever to be performed. 46) So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47) praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
The above scripture said that they were in one accord at that moment and daily. Those people had diffences of opinion and interpetation but, they kept their eyes on the conductor and their score continually together for unity & harmony. These people all had the same compassion. (The symphony grew bigger cause people saw the results of a harmonious people and wanted to be involved.) Phillipians 1:27
27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, Psalms 133:1 1) Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is important to bring glory to GOD, our audience.
He loves to hear us play in unity to him. It is music to his ears.
Jesus endured the cross and despised the shame for the joy that was set before him, because of the church that embraced and lived out the gospel on the other side of the cross. The greatest joy to Jesus Christ is when we take his master-piece(the gospel) and play it in unity back to him through our lives. We need to unify ourselves with the score, the conductor and the Composer.
